Bob Dylan song analysis

Honey Just Allow Me One More Chance"

Honey, just allow me one more chance
To get along with you
Honey, just allow me one more chance
Ah'll do anything with you
Well, I'm a-walkin' down the road
With my head in my hand
I'm lookin' for a woman
Needs a worried man
Just-a one kind favor I ask you
Allow me just-a one more chance.

Honey, just allow me one more chance
To ride your aeroplane
Honey, just allow me one more chance
To ride your passenger train
Well, I've been lookin' all over
For a gal like you
I can't find nobody
So you'll have to do
Just-a kind a favor I ask you
Allow me just-a one more chance.

Honey, just allow me one more chance
To get along with you
Honey, just allow me one more chance
Ah'll do anything with you
Well, lookin' for a woman
That ain't got no man
Is just lookin' for a needle
That is lost in the sand
Just-a one kind favor I ask you
Allow me just-a one more chance.

There are many reasons why I picked them song. I dont listen to Bob Dylan, but i felt like this song touched me in a way. This song is about a man asking a girl for just one more chance. There have been times where ive messed up and i have asked for one more chance and i just made me think about those times and how i felt. If someone asked me for one more chance i would probably do it because thats just the person i am so im hoping someone would do it for me. I appreciate this song because Bob Dylan came out and showed his true feelings on how he felt about someone and i give him full credit for that because that is a brave move.

Excerpts from only yesturday (teenagers)

Part 1:
- women were starting to wear less clothes
- flappers wore thin dresses; sleeveless
- abandoning corsetts
- nice girls smoking cigarettes
- openly drinking
- girls joyriding with men at 4 in the morning

Nowadays:
- drugs
- drinking
- tattoos
- bullying
- texting and driving
- smoking cigarettes
- being out past driving curfew
- dress code

The 1920's and the 21st century have some differences and similarites of how teenagers get in trouble. In the 1920's the laws weren't that strict as they are now. Back then women had to wear a lot more clothes then we do now, they couldn't show much skin. As time went along, the women were starting to wear less clothes. The flappers wore women that were starting to unlady like and not following rules, but they were the women that wore thin dresses to sleeveless ones. The women also had to wear corsetts which were a type of clothing that the women had to wear to keep their fat and body stiff and looking perfessional. The men back then didn't like when the women wore those, so the women were abandoning them. The young girls were starting to smoke cigarettes and drinking openly just so they could look "cool" infront of the guys. Like i said before the laws weren't as stict as they are now, so the parents of these teenagers didn't worry as much about them. For an example the young girls would be joyriding with men untill four in the morning and the parents wouldn't really care or think twice about it. Nowadays in the 21st century, the laws are more strict and you can pretty much get in trouble for just about anything. Drinking and doing drugs is a big thing that a lot of teenagers still get in trouble for, but the penatly is much worse now. Teenagers want to get tattoos younger and younger every year and you have to get a parent signature if your under the age of 18, so a lot of teenagers go to illegal places. Back then they didn't have the internet and now that we have it, it causes a lot of problems like bullying. They also didnt have a lot of cars back then and now that we do now, we have rules and laws as to driving like if your under the age of 18 you have time limits that u can drive from. If you dont follow the rules you could end up losing your license. Some of the similarites that the 1920's and the 21st century have in common are that they had a dress code were they couldn't show much skin and had to wear corsetts and in school we have to wear shorts that are finger tip length and have to wear 3 finger tip traps. Smoking, drinking, and doing drugs was all in the 1920's and is still contining in the 21st century except its just worse now. In my opinion, I would say that teenagers nowadays are worse behaved because theres a lot more laws and rules to break and teenagers think its "cool" and funny to break them.

1. Percy Sledge- When a man loves a women
2.

Lyrics

When A Man Loves A Woman lyricswhen a man loves a woman can't keep his mind on nothing else
he'd trade the world for a good thing he's found if she is bad he can't see it
she can do no wrong turn his back on his best friend if he put her down
when a man loves a woman spend his very last dime
trying to hold on to what he needs
he'd give up all his comforts and sleep out in the rain
if she said that's way it ought to be
but the man loves the woman
i gave you everything i had trying to hold on to your high class love
baby please dont treat me bad
when a man loves a woman
down deep in his soul
she can bring him such misery
if she plays him for a fool
he's the last one to know
loving eyes can never see
when a man loves a woman
he can do her no wrong
he could never hold another girl
yes when a man loves a woman
i know exactly how he feels
cause baby baby you're my world
when a man loves a woman
i know exactly how he feels
(song fades)

In the song "When a man loves a women" there is a message to it. The artist is trying to explain that when a man loves a women he will do anything for her no matter what she does just so he can have her in his life. I enjoy this song because it reminds me of some of the good movies ive seen that have this song in it and also because its kind of a love song and I enjoy some of them. This song doesnt really have anything common with what we learned in class, but it does have some of the sounds that we listened to.
